Slow Mill

13 Oct Slow Mill

Idea Owner: Erwin Croughs

Wave energy is one of the cleanest sustainable energy forms and has enormous potential for all oceans around the world. But it is also one of the least developed forms as waves are difficult to harness and have damaging effects on ocean structures. Slow Mill provides the long awaited answers to capturing oscillating motions effectively as well as ways to survive the harsh maritime environment. At the moment a scale model (1:3) is being tested 2 km off the coast of Scheveningen and plans to built the first commercial North Sea prototype are being developed. If current testing produces good results, we might very well have a game changer for the industry on our hands which especially when combined with wind energy, might revolutionize the cost of energy from our oceans.
