Deepsea Mineral Extraction

20 Jun Deepsea Mineral Extraction

Idea Owner: Andrew Baird

Seafloor hydrothermal vents emit an inexhaustible stream

of ‘smoke’ that is rich in copper, gold and other important metals.

Benthic Metals will deploy ‘filter pots’ over these vents to separate the metals from the fluid flow. The vents typically occur in fields so large numbers of pots will be deployed in close proximity which will increase production volume whilst reducing costs.

Benefits of this approach include:

  • Inexhaustible supply of metals
  • Very low environmental impact
  • Highly profitable with fast revenue generation

We currently have relationships with mining tenement holders as well as companies that specialize in deep sea salvage and advanced materials.
